The fall means cooler temperatures, football, leaves changing colors and the Annual Casting for Kids Bass Tournament on Black River Lake. This is one that Bassin’ in the Boot has added as a must fish each year. What originally started as a bass tournament to help a friend’s family during a childhood illness has grown to help many families with children facing medical obstacles. Brennan Russel and his team of bass tournament supporters hosts a must attend event every year on Black River Lake.
Launching from Taunton’s Marina at 3878 Hwy 129 in Monterey, La the field of anglers will begin arriving around 4 am to guarantee a blastoff spot as near the top as possible. Pre-registration is available but you may also register the morning of the tournament. With an entry fee of only $130 that includes your boat launch and $20 big bass pot you have the possibility of walking away with a 1st place prize of $2500.

This is a must attend event in the bass fishing community of Louisiana. Anglers from all over the state and southeastern region will come together to form a field of nearly 100 boats On October 3, 2020. The Black River Lake complex offers a variety of fishing from the bayous to Horseshoe Lake to Black River Lake by way of Workinger Bayou.
The annual fundraiser serves the children and families with medical challenges in the Miss-Lou area. A great cause and a worthwhile event every year.
